“We tried to send files via satellite, but after about 60 or 70MB of data, the connection would drop and transfers would fail,” explained Surya Prakash, Synergy’s IT team lead. “We’d have to start from scratch or send USB sticks with 2-3GB of important data on them. That was the only way to be sure the data got to the vessels. But it simply wasn’t scalable.”
